The use of increasingly thin metals, down to even 0.5mm in thickness, places increasing
demands on the MIG welding operator and his equipment. The new pre stressed and
heat sensitive sheet metal fabrications demand absolute consistency and precise
control of the welding arc. This requirement cannot be met using the conventional
“switch and tap” technology found in today’s MIG composites.
The new exclusive Murex Autolynx 4i, using inverter technology in combination
with electronic feedback control, is the MIG sheet metal welding solution for
the new millennium. It provides absolute control and consistency of all welding
parameters. Highly mobile, weighing only 18kg excluding wire, yet it can produce
160A at 40% duty and 100A continuously from a domestic type 240V 13A supply. Using
0.8mm wire and AC 5% CO2 gas it can weld metal down to 0.5mm thick (approx 20A!).
